1. Eagle Creek Park

7840 West 56th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46254, USA. One of the largest city parks in the United States, Eagle Creek Park has 1,400 acres of water and 3,900 acres. Visitors of the park will always have an activity to participate because there are over 15 facilities to choose from that range from their pistol range of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to their EarthDiscovery Center, which offers group packages for families and field trips for schools and scouts. This center even has live exhibits of native reptiles, amphibians, and fish, along with displays of insects, plants, and information about the area’s history.

 

2. Holliday Park

6363 Spring Mill Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46260. It is located on the north side of Indianapolis, where you can explore the nature center, play on one of the city’s best, hard-to-leave playgrounds, hike more than 3.5 miles of picturesque trails, or walk down to the banks of the White River. Holliday Park’s natural and environmental history features hands-on, discovery-based activities for all ages. Two classrooms host classes on nature, after-school activities, and arts and crafts with an environmental theme.

 

3. White River State Park

801 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. White River State Park covers 250 acres in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It is also one of seven designated cultural districts in Indianapolis. Among the attractions located in or near the park are the Indiana State Museum and IMAX Theater, the Indianapolis Zoo, and White River Gardens. The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, the NCAA headquarters and Hall of Champions, the medal of Honor Memorial, Victory Field, Military Park, the Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn Concert Series, and the Indiana Cross Country Arena. White River State Park is an urban park located in Indianapolis. It is not part of the 32 properties managed by the Division of State Parks, land management team within the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

 

4. Fort Harrison State Park

Fort Harrison Park has some of the biggest sledding hills in the area and is safer and cheaper than going to a resort to experience fast winds while sliding down a hill topped with snow. Nearby reopening spray parks include Arsenal Park, Dan Wakefield Park, Riverwood Park, and Tarkington Park. The fountains at Holliday Park also will flow. The Indy Parks “Grab & Go” food program operates Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, from noon to 12:30 p.m. near the Family Center. Broad Ripple Park borders the White River. Family Center, outdoor swimming pool, playground, shelters, picnic knoll, tennis, baseball, athletic field, viewing platform over the White River, wooded lot, fitness trail, dog park, boat ramp.

 

6. Southwestway Park

8400 Mann Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46221, United States. Southwestway Park is the third largest park in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is located at 8400 Mann Road in the southwestern section of the city. It covers approximately 587 acres (238ha) on the west bank of the White River, bordered on the north by Southport Road, west by Mann Road, and extending south past Ralston Avenue. Southwestway Park is joined with Winding River golf course and Cottonwood Lakes and includes baseball, shelter, concession stand, soccer fields, hiking trails, and playground.

 

7. Skiles Test Park

6828 Fall Creek Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46220. Skiles Test Nature Park, sometimes called Skiles Test Nature Area, is a park on the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It is in the northern trailhead of the Fall Creek Parkway and loved by hikers, bikers, and nature enthusiasts. The land, originally owned by millionaire skills Test, was willed to Indianapolis after his death. Skiles Test, a local businessman, lived on the property from 1913 to 1964. The property once had a miniature railway and a pool with bathhouses, elevators, and high dives.

 

8. Ross Claypool Park

2300 Howard St, Indianapolis, IN 46221. The soccer field is informal, so please bring your own goals. All burning is restricted to picnic grills. All vehicles must stay in designated areas and obey all State of Indiana traffic laws. All cyclists must stay in designated areas. All sales and solicitations require a special permit.

 

9. Krannert Park

605 S High School Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46241. Swimming lessons & water aerobics classes are offered at this 6-lane indoor pool. Krannert Family Center became a part of Indy Parks and Recreation in 1972, offering fun and exercise from various programs and activities. The park has a year-round indoor swimming facility and a seasonal Outdoor Aquatic Center to serve all ages and needs. For those in need of a serene nature escape, the partially wooded area with a pond and trails provides a nice setting for a relaxing visit.

 

10. Rhodius Park

1720 W Wilkins St, Indianapolis, IN 46221. It’s a Neighborhood hub with basketball & tennis courts, an outdoor pool & a rec center with a game room. Rhodius Park offers special programs such as Carnine Little League, Swim Team, Junior Lifeguards, Jr. Basketball League, and karate, as well as two unsupervised playgrounds. Rhodius has been a part of the West Indy community for more than 30 years. Rhodius offers activities for all ages. Enjoy the trails, playground, basketball and tennis courts, and an outdoor pool.
